Private Sector Development:

Supporting Local Entrepreneurship

The developmentof vibrant small and medium enterprises (SME) is largely seen as an important part of private sector development. We assist in innovation and technology development, and have carried out investment preparation and analyses, elaboration of business plans, and market studies.

We have wide experience in SME financial management, and can assist in enterprise analyses and mobilization, project financing, export credits and guarantees, equity financing and micro finance.

At the more general policy level, we also provide services in the field of private sector policy development.

Small-scale Mountain Tourism in Kyrgyzstan

At the Bishkek Summit concluding the UN International Year of Mountains in 2002, Norway offered assistance in the field of mountain tourism in Kyrgyzstan. The Norwegian assistance draws on the model for nature-based small-scale moutain tourism developed by the Norwegian Mountain Tourist Association (DNT), which has more than 130 years of experience in this field. 

Scanteam has been hired by DNT from the start-up of the project in 2003 as team leader. The project is carried out in co-operation with non-governmental Kyrgyz community-based tourism organisations, and financed by the Norweigan Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
