From densely populated, natural-disaster prone and conflict-ridden Central America to the thinly populated regions of the indigenous groups in the Amazon, Scanteam has been involved in assessing better ways to use available resources and skills according to the wishes of the people themselves. Working largely in Spanish and Portuguese-speaking parts of the continent, Scanteam has done work in over 20 countries.

Natural Disasters Management in Central America

Scanteam evaluated the collaboration between the Norwegian and Central American earth quake and natural disaster institutions, finding it to be a uniquely successful venture. This was due to the quick transfer of leadership and decision-making to the Central Americans, the truly collaborative interaction that evolved, and the Central Americans' own commitment and existing skills that permitted rapid technical and technological developments.
