Scanteam partners have worked in all corners of the world, assisting different organizations, donors and firms to improve their performance. While focus has traditionally been on Africa, over the last years there have been an increasing number of tasks also in Latin America, Asia, and Central Europe and former Soviet Republics.

A common feature in many of the countries where we work is the uncertainty regarding the country's development path. Assisting clients to address high risk environments is thus one of the key services that Scanteam provides.

Transferring Relevant Lessons

Scanteam partners encounter similar issues in different settings around the world. Being able to identify what is common and what is unique about a situation requires extensive international exposure. While it is dangerous to provide "blueprint" solutions, one should take advantage of experiences learned elsewhere.

The lessons from successful – and failed – capacity development projects are important, since this is an area that attracts substantial donor funding and where many projects often replicate mistakes produced elsewhere.

Helping partners avoid repeating others' failures is a key task, and one where our global experience makes a big difference.
